The introduction of the dictionary states the following: The Contemporary Arabic Language Lexicon— in addition to its other lexicons— came as an application of one of the theoretical opinions advocated by the late scholar (Ahmed Mokhtar Omar), which is the issuance of collective lexicons relying on the idea of a team of trained cadres to avoid individualism as a fundamental flaw in the production of Arabic lexicons. In light of the continuous competition and increasing interest in publishing lexicons in the twentieth century, turning it into an industry, and with the expansion of the material dealt with due to the continuous generation of linguistic terms and the continuous evolution of meanings, and the necessity for modern lexicons to rely on language from various sciences, literature, and knowledge, it is now impossible to envision accomplishing a lexicon— with the required efficiency— through individual effort, and it is not possible for a single researcher or a group of culturally homogeneous researchers to undertake this task.
