Zhejiang University Second Affiliated Hospital was established in 1869, originating from the Anglican Church's Hangzhou Guangji Hospital. The Guangji Medical School, which was part of the hospital from 1885 to 1925, was one of the earliest medical schools in China. Over its more than 130 years of growth and development, the hospital has evolved into a modern comprehensive research hospital with distinctive specialties. Currently, it features 1,900 open beds and handles approximately 1.61 million annual outpatient and emergency visits, with over 48,200 inpatient admissions and around 25,500 surgeries performed. Its facilities encompass over 155,000 square meters, including a modern neurosurgery center with a helicopter landing pad, as well as centers dedicated to ophthalmology, outpatient education, emergency care, and international health.
