Learning written language has never been an easy task, yet it forms the basis of all knowledge and disciplines. Regardless of which language one is studying, without proper methods, mere rote learning of characters or words will be both inefficient and hinder progress. If the efficiency of the learning method is too low, and the process of looking up words is too cumbersome, it can lead to adopting a habit of not seeking deeper understanding. This may result in error-filled writing and is a primary reason for the decline in language proficiency in modern times.

Recalling the Chinese language courses during student days, schools often emphasized standard answers for exams. Under the pressure of academic advancement, students passively studied, turning directly to ready-made annotations to resolve doubts, rarely taking the initiative to consult a dictionary. Under this spoon-feeding educational approach, memorizing standard answers became the only way of learning, lacking the drive to find answers independently. Hence, mere rote memorization without understanding variations in learning methods leads to reduced efficiency with no room for improvement.

The structure of Chinese characters is extremely meticulous. Whether in the formation of individual characters or in constructing phrases and sentences, they exhibit a highly modular nature that can be utilized to understand and deduce text efficiently. The ancients harnessed these characteristics to master written language throughout different eras, enabling them to comprehend texts from antiquity to modern times and become literary giants. For modern individuals, by leveraging scientific technology and integrating learning methods effectively, catching up to our predecessors is by no means an arduous task.

Although dictionary apps are now widespread and there are numerous Chinese character learning software available today, very few can significantly enhance learning efficiency. The reason lies in the change in modern methods of learning Chinese characters over the past century due to simplification and popularization processes.
