The Ten Mu'allaqat - Poetry and Poems

The Mu'allaqat are a collection of poems that were regarded as exceptional in their time and unmatched in quality. Their significance was such that they were inscribed in gold and hung on the walls of the Kaaba, embodying the cultural heritage of early Arabic literature. Initially, seven verses were recognized as Mu'allaqat, but three additional poems were later included, bringing the total to ten.

• Muhallaqah of Imru' al-Qais: قِفَا نَبْكِ مِنْ ذِكْرَى حَبِيبٍ ومَنْزِلِ
• Muhallaqah of Tarafah ibn al-'Abd: لِخَولة َ أطْلالٌ بِبُرقَة ِ ثَهمَدِ
• Muhallaqah of Al-Harith ibn Hillizah: آذَنَتنَـا بِبَينهـا أَسـمَــاءُ
• Muhallaqah of Zuhayr ibn Abi Sulma: أَمِنْ أُمِّ أَوْفَى دِمْنَـةٌ لَمْ تَكَلَّـمِ
• Muhallaqah of ‘Amr ibn Kulthum: أَلاَ هُبِّي بِصَحْنِكِ فَاصْبَحِيْنَـا
• Muhallaqah of ‘Antarah ibn Shaddad: هَلْ غَادَرَ الشُّعَرَاءُ منْ مُتَـرَدَّمِ
• Muhallaqah of Labid ibn Rabiah: عَفَتِ الدِّيَارُ مَحَلُّهَا فَمُقَامُهَـا
• Muhallaqah of ‘Ubayd ibn al-Abrus: أَقفَرَ مِن أَهلِهِ مَلحوبُ
• Al-A'sha: ودّعْ هريرة َ إنْ الركبَ مرتحلُ
• An-Nabighah al-Dhubyani: يا دارَ مَيّة َ بالعَليْاءِ، فالسَّنَدِ
